EMDR utilizes the neuroplasticity of the brain- the lifelong ability to learn, assimilate, and adapt- to new information. Our brain has the an innate, organic competence to learn new information-

  • cognitions (what we tell ourselves about ourselves),

  • insights (how new information connects to old information), and

  • body experiences ( muscle tension, GI distress/nausea, chills, tremors/shaking, shutting down, fatigue, etc)

When we acquire new information or practice a skill, our brain physically adapts its structure, strengthening active pathways and pruning away unused ones.

EMDR THERAPY STARTS FROM THE VERY FIRST APPOINTMENT. THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE EIGHT PHASES OF THE MODALITY. EMDR THERAPY IS MUCH MORE THAN PHASE FOUR BILATERAL STIMULATION (EYE MOVEMENTS OR TAPPING),
